What could help an aeronautic engineering company's performance to soar above the clouds (and competition)? Why, Qanda, of course. In a secluded corner of Wales, BRAMA Aeronautic Engineering and Manufacturing maintain precision jet aircraft. The firm is contracted to the British Government, and is renowned for their commitment to excellence and attention to detail. BRAMA Engineering possessed an impeccable reputation, so it was with interest that Qanda learned that they were seeking assistance in enhancing their corporate and field teams. We packed our bags and set off for the country. After conducting company research and studying their business, reviewing every aspect from design to building to testing, it became apparent that the tight-ship ethos of the firm was, in fact, too tight. The engineers and developers were so quality focused that they had developed a company culture that revered quality but was subject to some inefficient mindsets and ineffective processes. We discovered that our work with BRAMA would be an interesting challenge: to maintain the high level or workmanship and quality while at the same time increasing efficiency and cost effectiveness.
Qanda learned that much of the BRAMA team had government or military backgrounds, which lent themselves to bureaucratic and an often non-performance oriented culture. While the product standards were high, the work efficiency levels remained low, due to carry-over culture from outside organizations.
Qanda's solution was to design a series of programs which assisted in the retention of quality, but markedly improved efficiency and communication. In all, we delivered nine programs over 10 weeks to over 250 managers and service engineers. The four day program challenged the 'cost irrelevant mentality' of the organization. Our success exceeded even our own expectations. Before the training had completed, engineers and others who had been through the program were urging team members to adopt their newly acquired workplace ethos and habits. In conjunction with Qanda's training, BRAMA went from a company unsatisfied with its profitability and saddled with an at times cumbersome bureaucratic minded team, to a highly efficient, progressive and streamlined organization. Proof of their newly acquired competence was readily made apparent as they were awarded additional contracts in a short period of time following the completion of the programs.
When it comes to better business and designing stronger teams, Qanda creates quality through great questions. To discover how your organization or team can reach new heights, contact us today.
